The PTDF
The ptdf scholarship ( petroleum technology development fund) is offered by the federal government with a mandate of developing indigenous human capacity and petroleum technology, to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry.
The PTDF scholarship is open for qualified candidates who have bachelor’s M.SC/ PHD.
The scholarship scheme was established to offer candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diversified pool of knowledge and the facilities offered by world-class institutions across the globe.
Candidates are also invited to apply through the PTDF to specific programs at the partner institutions.
Mission
To train Nigerians to qualify as graduates, professionals, technicians, and craftsmen in specific fields. Both in Nigeria and abroad.
Vision
To serve not only as a vessel for the development of Indigenous manpower and technology, transfer/acquisition of oil and gas industry but to make Nigeria a human resource center for the West African sub-region and the Gulf of Guinea.
Mandate
Building capacities and capabilities in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry through the development of Human capacities, institutional capacity development, as well as the promotion of research and acquisition of relevant technologies.
To Apply for the PTDF scholarship certain requirements must be met. These requirements entail:
Post Graduate Requirements
1. Applicants must have a full-time admission letter into any of the federal universities in Nigeria.
2. A minimum of second class lower (2.2) in an oil and gas management-related field.
3. A minimum of merit in a second-degree certificate in an oil and gas-related discipline.
4. Applicants must have at least 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO. Not more than two sittings and the two results must precede the first degree.
5. National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) letter of exemption
6. Evidence of origin of state and local government ( certificate of indigeonship)

7. Personal statement of at least 1000 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study (Master’s Applicant).
8. PhD research proposal of not more than 6 pages. The research must be relevant to the oil and gas industry.
Undergraduate Requirements
1. Applicants must be full-time students in any of the federal universities.
2. Applicants must be presently in the 200 level of study.
3. The course of study must be related to the oil and gas industry.
4. Possess 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English language and mathematics.
5. Possession of a valid admission letter into the University is mandatory for all undergraduate applicants.
6. Possesses a minimum cumulative grade. Point Average(CGPA) of 3.0 on a scale of 5 or 3.0 on a scale of 4, which is equivalent to 2.2 in the first year.
7.Applicants must provide transcripts for the first year of study ( transcripts must be stamped by the HOD/Exam officer or any unauthorized personnel in the University).
To Apply for the PTDF scholarship certain documents are required for the application process. This document entails:
Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to their online application form.
1. Evidence of the statement of WAEC/SSCE/NECO results with at least 5 credits, including English language and Mathematics( not more than two sittings and the first sitting must be uploaded).
2. Letter of Admission to the University
3. First-year academic transcripts duly signed or stamped by the HOD/ Exam officer or any authorized personnel.
4. Personal statement of at least 300 words stating reasons for undertaking the course of study.
5. Postgraduate Documents
6. First-degree result or statement of result.
7. NYSC letter of exemption
8. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results
9. Admission letter
10.Personal Statement
11. Certificate of indigenship (evidence of state of origin and local government).

How To Apply For the PTDF Scholarship
To Apply for the PTDF scholarship, applicants must follow the following Application process/steps:
1. Visit the PTDF website www.gov.ng
2. Create an application account or log in to an already registered account.
3.Verify your email account
4. Proceed to verify your NIN before you start a new application.
5. Please take note of all document/file formats and uploads; if the file uploaded does not meet the requirements, you will experience an error.
6. Preview your application and check for any possible mistakes before submission.
7. Once your application is submitted you can no longer edit.
8.Successful applicants will be shortlisted for an interview. After that candidates who scale through the first round of screening will be requested to submit their transcripts.
